West End Arts Colors of Long Beach Exhibition April 30, 2006

Colors of Long Beach an art expo was a huge hit. A one day cultural arts event sponsored by West End Arts visual artists Guild drew crowds of people from infants to elders. West End Arts is a 3 year old art guild featuring artists from the western part of Long Island. The event was organized by Officers : Kathleen Regan, Scott Miller, and Bob Shanley of Long Beach. It was held at the Magnolia sr/community Center in Long Beach. Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby presented an award of excellence to West End Arts for all of the talent, hard work and community service. the Featured at the event: a members art exhibition (over 50 works), and reception; art demonsrtations watercolors( Jason Ptitchard), broom crafting (Karen O'Neill), home design Touched by Magic( Suzanne Hagleitner), photography ( Scott Evers, Steve Nicholberg and Bob Shanley) and batik (Shanaz Deonarine) Digital Design ( George Mallis) Clothing Design (Ron Emanuele).; Live performances by Long Beach Los Playeros, Argentine Tango dancers Pedro and Laura Escudero, Modern dancer Susan Turner, Guartarist Dennis Donaghy, Refreshments and Gourmet Food prepared by Chef Allan Klein , and a painting activity for all to experience. West End Arts invited the Interfiath Nutrition Network to present information about the work the I.N.N. does for the homless and persons in need of shelter, food and social workers. Door prizes were donated by local vendors and artists of the Guild. Fun was had by all. Colors of Long Beach Art Expo was supported by a NYS Dept of Education Legislative Grant.
