WEST
END ARTS GALLERY AT THE
LONG BEACH COMMUNITY CENTER WELCOMES
LUCILLE & ANTHONY MESSINA
January 1st-February 29, 2008
650 Magnolia Blvd. Long Beach, NY
Lucille
Messina was raised in an artistic environment. Her
mother is a successful artist who currently has paintings on exhibit.
Lucille has worked in the photography field for many years. Her photographs
have been on exhibit in New York galleries and in Long Beach, New
York. In addition, they have been published in the New York Times
and appeared in corporate annual reports. She specializes in event,
wedding, architectural, and fine art photography. She is also well
versed in photojournalism. Some of her abstracts have been used by
the Long Beach Jazz Festival and have been printed on t-shirts and
posters.
Lucille transforms her photographed images into abstracts by “painting
on the computer”. She started her own business, LewMax
Photography & Music, in 1998, along with her husband, Anthony
Messina. The business is located in Long Beach, New York where they
reside. They are both delighted to be members of West End Arts, in
Long Beach.
Aside from photography, Lucille is also a musician who performs with
her band, “Lucille’s Mixed Nuts”, in New York, locally,
and elsewhere. She has
combined the photography and music by creating her own promotional
artwork.
Anthony Messina is a
full time photographer who has many years of experience. He considers
photography a passion rather than work.
His experience includes over 1,800 weddings, in addition to architectural
photography, commercial photography, charitable events, promotional
work for musicians, private and corporate portraiture, and a mix of
fine art photography. His work was exhibited in New York City galleries
and has been published in Nikon World Magazine…and yes, he photographs
using Nikon professional equipment.
He graduated with honors from Germaine School of Photography, located
in New York City. In addition, he attended Nikon School seminars.
His education combined with his experience enables him to use his
cameras as an extension of his creative imagination.
His approach to weddings and portraiture is very natural. He photographs
couplesreacting to one another with limited direction and uses their
chemistry to invoke a natural expression. His use of natural light
enhances his technique.
Anthony consistently explores ways to expand his creativity despite
his many years of experience. This will enable him to keep a fresh
approach to his photography for years to come.
