West End Arts Artists Guild member Jean George has been named featured artist at the WEA Gallery located at the Long Beach Community Center, 650 Magnolia Blvd. Marck’s work will be on display from November 1st 2008—January 3rd 2009.

Jean George lives in Massapequa Park and loves taking walks in nature, a rich source for photographs. Her love of the outdoors and the practice of traditional women?s arts began at an early age, first with sewing, embroidery and crocheting, and later calligraphy, watercolors, photography and quilting.

Black and white photography was the foundation of her understanding of composition, light and shadows. Quilting brought together the use of texture and blending colors. When Jean discovered the possibilities of digital photography about 2 years ago, it opened new vistas. She now composes, edits, and paints with the aid of the computer.

After a 30 year career as a Physical Therapist, Jean had to stop working due to a disability. She is presently studying at TRI (The Rehabilitation Institute) in Westbury, N.Y.,receiving training in graphic design.

Jean is a member of West End Arts Visual Artists Guild . She had a photo in the Long Island Arts Council?s Annual Juried Photography Show in May 2008, and a photo in the Long Island Photography Center?s Annual Competition in September, 2008. She last had a solo Exhibit at Galleria Circulo in 2007, and contributes to group shows for WEA .
