MARCK WEBSTER

"When Colors Collide"
Featured Artist on Display
From September 3rd—November 5th 2008

Marck Webster is a self-taught, abstract artist from Long Island , New York . Born in Jamaica, Queens in the 50’s, Marck has been creating artwork in various forms throughout his life. However it was not until his retirement from the NYPD in March of 2006 that he began to create abstract drawings as a full time passion. “I believe much of my work reflects the undertones and color of 60’s psychedelic artists, most of whom remain nameless but where found virtually everywhere at the time” Said Marck. “Of the artists who are known, my greatest influences are, Alton Kelley and Stanley “Mouse” Miller, who were responsible for much of the poster art associated with Haight-Ashbury at the close of that decade.”

Utilizing the same drawing table since he was 16, it bears the colored scars earned through thousands of hours of creation. When not creating art, Marck is a perennial student in the capture of striped bass, is a US Navy veteran and a die-hard Yankee fan. Marck’s colored pencil drawings have been shown at a variety of local exhibits including the Kennedy Plaza Fine Art Show this past June. Marck’s work is currently being represented by Agora Gallery in NYC and reproductions are available from his website www.marckgraphicks.com.
